An SAP Technical Architect shapes the technical design of SAP landscapes, covering platform choices, system architecture, integration, extensions, environments, performance and long-term support considerations.

The role is commonly used on SAP S/4HANA, ECC, RISE with SAP, SAP BTP and complex integration programmes where employers need technical decisions to be controlled, documented and aligned to the wider SAP roadmap.

• Designing the technical architecture for SAP S/4HANA, ECC, RISE with SAP or BTP programmes
• Reviewing SAP landscape, integration, extension, security and performance decisions
• Preparing technical plans for migration, upgrade, rollout or cloud transition
• Reducing long-term support risk from weak architecture or avoidable customisation
• Giving delivery teams clear technical guidance across build, test, cutover and BAU handover

• Define SAP technical architecture principles, standards and design decisions
• Shape SAP landscape, platform, integration, extension, environment and deployment approaches
• Work with solution architects, Basis teams, developers, security specialists, integration teams and suppliers
• Review technical designs, interface approaches, custom developments, performance risks and operational impacts
• Support SAP S/4HANA, ECC, RISE with SAP, SAP BTP, HANA and Integration Suite planning where relevant
• Challenge technical decisions that add unnecessary cost, complexity or future support issues
• Provide technical assurance through design, build, testing, deployment and transition into BAU

• SAP technical architecture experience
• Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA, ECC, SAP BTP, Basis and HANA landscapes
• Knowledge of integration, extensions, environments, performance and operational support
• Experience with technical design governance and architecture assurance
• Ability to work across functional, development, Basis, security and supplier teams
• Clear judgement on technical risk, scalability, maintainability and supportability
