What does a Senior SAP Functional Consultant do?
A Senior SAP Functional Consultant works with business users, process owners, architects and technical teams to shape SAP processes, make configuration decisions and guide delivery through design, testing, deployment and support.
The role is commonly used across SAP S/4HANA, ECC, RISE with SAP, rollout, upgrade and optimisation programmes where employers need senior functional knowledge, fit-gap control and practical judgement on standard SAP versus customisation.

- Configure SAP processes, settings and controls in line with approved solution design
- Write functional specifications for reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms or workflows where required
- Support unit testing, integration testing, UAT, defect resolution, cutover and deployment readiness
- Guide junior consultants, business users and support teams through design decisions and issue resolution
- Help transition SAP changes into BAU with clear documentation, knowledge transfer and support input
Key skills to look for
- Senior SAP functional consulting experience
- Deep knowledge of one or more SAP modules or end-to-end business processes
- SAP S/4HANA, ECC, SAP Activate and Fiori awareness
- Strong configuration, fit-gap, testing and functional specification experience
- Ability to challenge requirements and avoid unnecessary customisation where standard SAP fits
- Clear communication across business users, technical teams and delivery partners
